Text:. Malachi 3:6 and Isaiah 40:7,8.
INTRODUCTION: There are many things that have changed or will continue to change, even we human beings passes through many changes. We were born babies, we grow up to be an adults, later getting old and die.
Weather changes, we often talk about climate change. For example by this time in Africa especially in Ghana the month of August is known to be August break that means by this time the rain should have stopped, to our surprise it’s till raining every day, how wonderful our God !!!.
It is only in Africa that School curriculum changes every year.
The economy has changed, American dollar exchange rate to Ghana Cedis had jumped up.
Our typical African tradition has changed. There is total indiscipline both at home and in school, the fear and respect for the parents is no more, morality has no place among our youth.
We see how gay and lesbianism has been spread all over the world, these things were taboo in the past. Things are not getting better but rather getting worse, ”God have mercy on us”.
Am here this morning to encourage you that the economy may not be doing well, our local currency may be worse, Education cannot be boast of, no proper medical attention.
I want to let you know that our God never change . He is God yesterday, today and forever, His word never Change , because He changed not. You can really on His word of promises.
Please look with me in our text Malachi 3:6 Bible says For l am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
Let us appreciate God for He is not a man that can change at any time.
Is not only that God never change but His word also, As a Fundamental Independent, Bible believing and practicing Baptist Church, there are many things that we need not to change, which other denominations has changed, we need to hold on to the truth of our faith in Jesus Christ alone.
This morning I want to give you six areas that we need not to change.
(1) Our manual which is The Bible has not changed . Today there are a lot of different Bible versions, NIV, NEW KING JAMES, REVERSE STANDARD, NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION, NEW LIVING TRANSLATION, NEW AMERICAN STANDARD BIBLE to mention just a few . But a typical INDEPENDENT Baptist Church we still hold on to KING JAMES VERSION 1611, turn you Bible with me to Isaiah 40 : 7, 8. ‘ The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it; surely the people is grass. Verse 8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall Stand for ever.
Till today our manual ( Bible ) has not Changed.
(2) Our Mission has not changed . We have been given a duty to carry out, the duty is to evangelized to everyone. Mathew 28 : 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
What is mission ? It is a specific task with which a petition or a group is charged, We called it ‘ the great commission’
(3) Our method of going out to tell others about Our Saviour has not changed.
A method is a procedure or process to carry out a task. Our procedure and principle of doing Soul winning has not changed. House to house, going out two by two has not changed , Spirit filled has not changed,
Knocking on doors, carrying tracks in your pocket has not changed.
Folks, it is true that God never change and His word never change, I am here this morning to tell you that there are many things that has not changed, one I said that our manual the Bible has not changed Two, I said to you that our mission has not changed that is our purpose has a Christian to get others saved has not changed, three our method; the way we got saved has not changed, some body one day showed me from the Bible how to go to heaven when I die, he led me to Christ and I put my trust in him as my personal Saviour, I know without any shadow of doubt I have my name written in heaven, praise God !!!
(4) Our manner has not changed.
Manner is our behavior, character or attitude, that is Holy living, separated from the world, a man should look like a man, separate yourself from drinking alcohol, smoking, chasing women, we should move away from all appearances of the devil.
(5) Out music has not changed. Our traditional, God honouring, evangelistic hymes has not changed, “Amazing Grace” , “There is a name l love to hear”, “To God be the Glory”, “There is no friend like lonely Jesus”etc.
If there is a very strong weapon that the devil is using today is the music.
Many churches are not using hymes again they result to chorus because they can dance to it. But as a Fundamental Independent Baptist Church we still believe in old time religion.
(6) Our message has not not changed . What is our message; is the ‘ death, the burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, we call it ‘ The Gospel ‘
Conclusion; We have been living witnesses of many things that has Changed, today we have seen with our eyes, we have heard with our ears that men and men marry, women and women marry, the world has ordained gay as a preacher. God help us.
It is true that the Bible said in 1 Peter 4 : 17 that For the time is come that judgement must begin at the house of God: and if it fist begin at us, what shall the end be of them ‘ . So therefore my brothers and sisters let us be the Doer and not only the hearer alone .
