Our History
Calvary Independent Baptist Church was founded on September 2, 2001 by Pastor Mark Sigstad, an American Missionary, and Pastor Samson Laniran, a Nigerian, with the help of Brother Kwame Kusi-Gyan, a Ghanaian.
Pastor Mark Sigstad was on the mission field in Nigeria and Ghana for about 40 years. Pastor Samson Laniran was trained and sent into the mission field by Pastor Sigstad who founded the Bible Institute of Independent Baptist Church, IBC, Bodija, Ibadan in Oyo State of Nigeria. Brother Kwame Kusi-Gyan, though a Ghanaian, was a deacon in the same church in Nigeria.
The Pastor
I received the Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour when IBC, Bodija was celebrating their second anniversary.
I was baptized immediately and joined the church. I knew within me that something good has happened to me. I have the joy, peace and happiness of the Lord which to me is truly an Amazing Grace.
I then started Fundamental Independent Baptist Students Fellowship, FIBSF. I was the chaplain and later the President of the Single Adults Learning Truth, SALT, of IBC.
I am a gradute of the Bible Institute of IBC, Bodija, Ibadan. Thanks to Pastor Mark Sigstad for helping me to reach my potential.
To God be the glory that I am now a Missionary/Pastor in Ghana, Kumasi and the Pastor of Calvary Independent Baptist Church, CIBC, Kumasi, Ghana. Praise God, Amen
